Binance says it has replenished about 90% of the assets affected by a hack and allocated more than $6.3bn to cover losses. The exchange said users would not bear the losses, while the FBI has attributed the attack to North Korea, according to reports.

In an update published on Saturday, Binance said the replenishment ratio had risen from about 80% to 90%. It said more than $6.34bn in company funds had been set aside to cover the stolen assets.

Binance said the money came from a combination of its Secure Asset Fund for Users, its futures insurance fund and corporate funds. It said the remaining affected assets were harder to acquire because they had lower liquidity.

The exchange also published a new proof-of-reserves snapshot and said a fuller zero-knowledge proof was expected on Tuesday. Binance said withdrawals were expected to resume on Sunday, although the precise arrangements had not yet been confirmed.

The company’s statement is not the same as an independent audit of the entire incident. It is a declaration by the exchange about the assets it has replenished and the support it plans to provide to customers.

The FBI’s attribution to North Korea was reported alongside the incident. Attribution in cyber incidents can involve intelligence that is not publicly disclosed in full, so the claim should not be treated as a court finding or as proof of the identity of individual attackers.

For customers, the exchange’s promises concern the replacement of affected assets and the resumption of withdrawals.

Binance said it would continue buying the remaining affected tokens and would bear the financial impact. The final percentage covered and the restoration of withdrawals remained subject to further updates.

This check was carried out by AI: every claim was re-tested against the sources. Even an approved article can contain errors — stay critical.

The article clearly separates Binance’s own financial and operational claims from the FBI attribution. It does not claim that withdrawals had already resumed or that the attack had been independently audited.
